on April 20, 2022

Scott Poore was the recipient of the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat on April 19, 2022, at Kauffman Stadium.

Scott Poore left corporate America to do what he loves most- animal rescue work. He spends every day helping fundraise for animal shelters, promoting pet adoption, and finding long-term shelter pets their forever homes.

Since launching Mission Driven in 2016, Scott has raised $1 million for animal shelters, rescues, and outreach groups. He has helped 1200 long-term shelter pets find loving homes. And has been featured on People, CNN, The Dodo, The Hallmark Channel, Fox News, and Inside Edition for his unique methods of promoting shelter pets that aren't getting any adoption interest. The Pitch has named him as "Best Philanthropist," "Best Local Hero," "Best Community Activist," and "Best Animal Advocacy."

Thank you to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City for nominating Scott Poore for this award!

What is the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat?

"Buck O'Neil had an enormous impact on the world of baseball and the lives of the everyday people he touched. Buck spent many days and nights supporting the Royals from the same seat behind home plate at Kauffman Stadium, both as a scout and a fan. To honor Buck, the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat program fills "Buck's Seat" for every home game with a member of the community who, on a large or small scale, embodies an aspect of Buck's spirit."
